The Refresh Permissions functionality ensures that Manychat always has the correct permissions to interact with your connected services, such as Instagram or Facebook Messenger. Keeping these permissions up to date helps maintain smooth performance across your account and can also resolve several common technical issues, including:
- Automations not publishing or messages failing to send
- Mismatched information between your Facebook/Instagram accounts and Manychat (such as page name, username, or profile picture)
- The Post/Reel Comment Trigger not showing the list of your existing posts
- Difficulties enabling the Main Menu, Welcome Message, or Default Reply
Refreshing permissions is a quick and reliable way to restore proper functionality and ensure seamless performance across your connected channels.
How to refresh permissions for Instagram
- Click the Help button at the bottom of your Manychat workspace.
- Click Refresh permissions.
- In the pop-up, choose Instagram as the channel you want to refresh.
- Follow the prompts in the Instagram window to complete the permission refresh.
- After you finish, you’ll be returned to the Manychat workspace, where a confirmation banner will appear at the top of the screen indicating that your permissions were successfully refreshed.
Another way to access Refresh Permissions is by clicking Settings in the sidebar, selecting Instagram, scrolling down to the Refresh Instagram Permissions section, and then clicking Refresh Permissions.
How to refresh permissions for Facebook
- Click the Help button at the bottom of your Manychat workspace.
- Click Refresh permissions.
- In the pop-up, choose Facebook as the channel you want to refresh.
- Follow the prompts in the Facebook window to complete the permission refresh:
- Select the Facebook account and business you want to update.
- Review the list of permissions and ensure all required options are enabled.
- Once you’re done, you’ll be returned to the Manychat workspace, where a confirmation banner will appear at the top of your screen indicating that your permissions were successfully refreshed.
Another way to access Refresh Permissions is by clicking Settings in the sidebar, selecting Messenger, scrolling down to the Refresh Facebook Permissions section, and then clicking Refresh Permissions.
If you can’t refresh permissions
If the Refresh Permissions functionality doesn’t work or you see an error while trying to use it, this may indicate that the Facebook profile you originally used to create your Manychat account is no longer active (for example, if it was blocked or deleted).
You can verify the profile used to sign up for Manychat in My profile:
- Click My profile in the sidebar.
- Select any sign-in option you have enabled.
- In the pop-up, check which Facebook profile is connected as your sign-in method.
Make sure this Facebook profile is active and that you still have full control over the Facebook Page connected to Manychat.
If you recently changed your Instagram or Facebook password, log out of both Manychat and your Instagram/Facebook account, then log back in and use Refresh Permissions again to restore the connection.
If the issue persists, try refreshing permissions from an incognito/private browsing window to rule out browser cache issues.
