This guide covers how to connect a new number purchased through Manychat to WhatsApp. The process includes initiating the connection in Manychat settings, obtaining and activating a new number, granting permissions through Facebook, setting up a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA), and completing the final setup.
Connecting the new number
- Click Settings in the sidebar.
- Select WhatsApp from the list of channels.
- Click Connect.
- Select New Number, then click Get New Number to confirm your selection.
- Select the country from the list for your new number. Every Manychat number works internationally — the country you select does not affect where the number can be used, so feel free to select any country.
- Click Confirm Purchase.
- Once your number is issued, you'll be redirected to a page with the next steps. Copy your new phone number by clicking Copy.
- Click Open Meta Sign-Up to continue. ⚠️ Keep the Manychat WhatsApp integration tab open in your browser. You'll need it to receive your verification code shortly. Closing or reloading the page will reset the process, and you'll have to start over.
- A pop-up window will appear with the Facebook login screen. Log in using the Facebook profile linked to your Manychat account as a sign-in method.
- Select the business portfolio that will own the WhatsApp number, or create a new one. Connecting on behalf of a client? Select the client's business portfolio, not your agency's.
- Select an existing WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) or create a new one. If no WABAs are associated with the selected business portfolio, one will be created automatically.
- Enter your WhatsApp Business display name. Make sure it follows Facebook's display name guidelines — names that don't meet the requirements will be rejected.
- Fill in the remaining business details:
- Category — choose the option that best describes your business.
- Country — select where your business is based.
- Website — enter your business website URL. No website? Use your business Instagram or Facebook page link instead.

Time zone — select your local time zone.
- Select Add a new number and paste your purchased phone number.
- Choose a verification method: Text message or Phone call, then click Next. Regardless of the verification method selected, your code will appear in your Manychat tab either way.
- Go to your Manychat tab and find your verification code. Copy the code.
- Paste the code into the Verify your phone number pop-up in Facebook.
- Click Next.
- A new window will appear asking you to review what will be shared as part of the connection. Review the details, then click Confirm to proceed.
- You'll see a screen confirming that your account is successfully connected to Manychat. Click Continue to feature setup.
- A new page will open, redirecting you to your Business Manager. Close this page and return to your Manychat tab, where the connection will finish setting up.
Once the connection is complete, a confirmation screen will appear. Click Open Home Page to return to your Manychat account, where you can start using your automations with the newly connected number.
And that's it! You've successfully connected your new Manychat-purchased number to WhatsApp, and you're ready to start communicating directly with your audience through the platform.
