In this step-by-step guide, you'll learn how to connect a new number purchased through Manychat to WhatsApp to manage your WhatsApp conversations exclusively through Manychat.
Here are the main steps involved:
- Connect a new number: Initiate the process in your Manychat settings
- Issuance and initial setup: Obtain and activate your new phone number
- Facebook login and permissions: Secure necessary permissions through Facebook
- Setting up WhatsApp Business Account (WABA): Create or select a WABA

- Finalizing the setup: Complete the setup and start using your automation
Connect a new number
Start by navigating to Settings > WhatsApp and clicking on Connect:
Select Connect New Number
Choose a country from the drop-down menu. Every Manychat number works internationally, so feel free to select any country even if yours isn’t listed. Click Get Number.
Issuance and initial setup
Once the number is issued, click the Proceed button:
You will be redirected to a page with further instructions. Here, copy your new phone number and click Connect.
⚠️ IMPORTANT! Keep the tab with the WhatsApp integration in Manychat open to receive the verification code. Do not close or reload this page until the sign-up process is complete, as this will require you to start over.
Facebook login and permissions
After clicking Connect, a popup window will appear with Facebook's login screen. Log in as required.
Follow the on-screen instructions to grant permissions to Manychat.
Select the Facebook Business account that will own the WhatsApp number. If you are an agency connecting on behalf of a client, remember to use the client’s Business account, not the agency’s.
Setting up WhatsApp Business Account (WABA)
You will then either create a new WhatsApp Business Account or select an existing one. If no WABAs are associated with the selected business, one will be created by default.
Fill in your WhatsApp Business display name, ensuring compliance with Facebook's display name guidelines to avoid rejection.
Choose the category that best describes your business.
Phone number connection
Connect your phone number using the Text message or Phone call verification option. Your verification code will appear in Manychat regardless of the method chosen:
Once verified, click Save.
Finalizing the setup
If you see a screen confirming that you have successfully completed the previous steps, click Finish. This will close the window.
Return to your Manychat account to begin using your automation with the newly connected number.
