How to set up WhatsApp Ice Breakers in Manychat
To set up your ice breakers, navigate to the Manychat Settings > WhatsApp and select Ice Breakers > Set Up:
To create a new Ice Breaker, click the + Add question button. You can add up to four questions as Ice Breakers. Previews of your questions will also be available on this page.
⚠️ Important: Please note that due to Meta's limitations, you cannot include emojis in your Ice Breakers. Additionally, your WhatsApp buttons and Ice Breakers are restricted to a maximum of 80 characters.
Create a new automation in the flow builder or choose an existing automation to link to an Ice Breaker. When a user clicks on one of your Ice Breakers, your linked automation will be triggered.

Troubleshooting
If WhatsApp Ice Breakers are not visible, ensure there is no existing message history between the number you're using and your WhatsApp Business to enable Ice Breakers visibility. If there are previous messages, delete them and attempt again.
To delete existing chat history on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
For iOS:
- Open WhatsApp and find the chat you want to delete.
- Open the chat and tap on the contact's name at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom of the contact information page and tap 'Clear Chat'.
- Confirm your choice to delete all messages in the chat.
For Android:
- Open WhatsApp and find the chat you want to delete.
- Press and hold the chat to reveal options.
- Tap the trash bin icon.
- Select 'Delete Chat' to remove all messages within that chat.
- Confirm your choice to delete the entire chat.
⚠️ Deleting the chat will permanently remove all message history between you and the contact. This action is irreversible. After deleting the chat, it's recommended to restart WhatsApp to ensure that all changes are properly applied.
