Marketing Messages on Messenger is a recently introduced solution from Meta that allows businesses to drive engagement and sales by sending personalized updates and promotional messages directly to people on Messenger.
The solution is built on top of Meta’s paid advertising capabilities and allows businesses to use the same Messenger Lists previously available for Recurring Notifications to target individuals who have opted in to receive marketing messages from a specific Facebook business page.
|
Important: Unlike Recurring Notifications, which
Meta will begin
sunsetting globally on January 12, 2026, Marketing Messages on
Messenger is a
paid solution. Meta charges for its usage through the business’s
credit card
connected to the Ad account(s) selected during the new onboarding
process in
Manychat, as described in this article.
Marketing Messages on Messenger is currently in beta and has been rolled out by Meta in a limited number of countries. The rollout will continue throughout 2026. You can refer to Meta’s official documentation for the latest updates on availability. |
Requirements to Use Marketing Messages on Messenger
To use Marketing Messages on Messenger, a Manychat user representing the business must meet the following requirements.
Have the correct Meta permissions
You need full access to both a Facebook business page and at least one ad account with a credit card from a Meta-supported country, all under the same Meta Business Portfolio. These permissions are managed in the business’s Meta Business Portfolio.
If you don’t currently have full access, an admin in your organization can grant you the required permissions.
Meta Business Portfolio admins can manage permissions directly in the Business Portfolio settings. To do this, go to Settings, then select Pages or Ad accounts under Accounts, depending on the asset you want to manage. Locate the user whose permissions you want to update and click Manage next to their name.
Use the same Facebook page in Manychat
Each Manychat account can be connected to only one Facebook business page, and the same Facebook page can’t be connected to multiple Manychat accounts. Before continuing, make sure you know which Facebook business page is associated with the Manychat account you’re currently logged into.
You can check the connected Facebook page in your Manychat workspace by opening Insights from your Home page. Once confirmed, ensure you have full control of that Facebook page in your Meta Business Portfolio, as this exact page must be selected during the onboarding process when granting asset permissions to Manychat.
Grant asset permissions to Manychat
You’ll need to extend access to your Meta assets, including the Facebook Business Page, Ad account(s), and Business Portfolio. To do this:
- Open Settings in your Manychat account.
- Select Messenger from the list of channels.
- Switch to the Marketing campaigns tab.
- Click Share permissions and follow the steps in the Facebook walkthrough that opens.
Make sure to select the same assets mentioned in step 1; otherwise, you won’t be able to create or send marketing campaigns.
If incorrect permissions or ad accounts are selected, you won’t
be able to continue
and error messages will be shown. For example:

Create a Marketing Campaign in Manychat
To create a marketing campaign:
- Open Settings in your Manychat account.
- Select Messenger from the list of channels.
- Switch to the Marketing campaigns tab.
- Click Create Campaign.
- In the pop-up that opens, you need to specify:
-
Ad account: Select one of the ad accounts that was extended to Manychat during the onboarding flow. Ad accounts without a payment method set up will be disabled and won’t be available for selection.
-
Budget type: Choose either a daily or lifetime budget. Both options apply to campaigns that run for 30 days.
-
Budget limit: Set a budget limit based on the selected budget type. The currency shown will match the payment method of the selected ad account. For example, a daily budget of $10 results in an estimated total campaign cost of $300 ($10 per day for 30 days), while a lifetime budget of $10 results in a total cost of $10 for the same 30-day period. Once selected, an estimated reach based on the campaign budget will appear below the budget field.
-
Ad account: Select one of the ad accounts that was extended to Manychat during the onboarding flow. Ad accounts without a payment method set up will be disabled and won’t be available for selection.
- Click Create.
The daily budget must not exceed the credit card daily spending limit set by Meta. You can check this limit in Ads Manager within your Meta Business Portfolio account by opening Settings and selecting Billing & Payments from the sidebar. Under the Account tab, you’ll see the daily spending limit set by Meta.
Marketing campaigns created under these conditions are reviewed and approved by Meta. After approval, there is currently a 10-minute waiting period before messages can be sent to end users.
The list of created marketing campaigns displays key information, including campaign status and budget.
| You’ll need a subscriber list to use in a marketing campaign. The same Messenger Lists previously available for Recurring Notifications can also be used for Marketing Messages on Messenger. You can refer to this article for a full overview of how to create and manage Messenger Lists in Manychat. |
Create an Automation or Broadcast to deliver your marketing campaign
Automations
In Automations, you can select an existing marketing campaign or create a new one to target opted-in users from the same Messenger Lists previously used for Recurring Notifications.
To add a marketing campaign to your automation:
- Create a new automation or open an existing one.
- Add a Send a message step for Messenger.
- When configuring the message, select the marketing campaign you want to send from the list.
Broadcasts
If Marketing Messages on Messenger is enabled for your account, a new broadcast type is available for promotional messages. You can select an existing marketing campaign or create a new one from the dropdown menu.
Once a campaign is selected, an estimated reach based on the campaign budget will be displayed below the amount field.
