If you use a card issued by an Indian bank to pay for your Manychat subscription, you might occasionally encounter payment issues. While the initial payment might be processed smoothly, subsequent payments can often fail, leading to your Manychat account being downgraded to a free version.
When attempting to renew your subscription, you might encounter the following message: "Something went wrong with your card. Please check your bank payment history or try again using another card." This issue typically stems from the RBI's e-mandate regulations, which impact recurring payments. These rules can cause higher failure rates for recurring invoices. These regulations apply to businesses in India as well as international businesses selling to Indian customers in both INR and non-INR currencies.
The Manychat Pro recurring subscription is also affected by the new regulation, as these payments are considered 'off-session,' meaning they occur without the customer's direct involvement, using previously collected payment information. This is an industry-wide challenge that requires Indian banks and payment partners to develop infrastructure that ensures compliance with these regulations.
Troubleshooting
While we are actively seeking new methods to minimize transaction failures, here are steps you can take to manage your subscription more effectively:
Navigate to Settings → Billing and click Update billing credentials:
Enter your payment details and card information again, and DO NOT check the box Securely save my information for 1-click checkout. Then, click Save card:
After that, try to process the payment again by clicking the Renew subscription button at the top of your Manychat dashboard.
🛟 If you don’t see the Billing tab in your settings, please ask the Manychat account Owner or an Admin to grant you billing permissions.
They can do this by navigating to Settings → Team Members → clicking Edit next to the team member's name → and toggling Has permissions in the Billing section.
If you still encounter any payment issues, please submit a ticket. Our Support Team is ready to review your case and assist you promptly.
