Important general guidelines
Before you begin, here are a few key points to keep in mind. These general rules apply to all connection methods:
- Your chat history will not transfer to Manychat. However, you can create a backup for both iPhone and Android.
- Some WhatsApp Business App features may not be available after connecting to Manychat. Meta is working on feature parity between the two WhatsApp versions. Manychat is collaborating with Meta to bring these improvements to customers as they become available.
- Manychat connects to WhatsApp through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, enabling automations and integrations. An existing WhatsApp number can be used — no new number is required.
Choosing the right method
The decision comes down to one question: do you already have a phone number to use for WhatsApp?
- If yes, connect it.
- If no, get a new number through Manychat during setup.
Option 1: Connect your existing number
If you already have a number available, you can connect it directly to Manychat — regardless of where it comes from. For example:
- A number currently used with the WhatsApp Business App — your everyday business number.
- A number connected to another BSP (Business Solution Provider) that you'd like to bring over to Manychat.
- A fresh or unused number — which is not currently linked to a WhatsApp account.
